Computers Have Killed Chess

(lichess.org)

I liked over the board tournaments but found it difficult to spend a weekend playing four games. When I play over the board, I prefer rapid or blitz chess, 3 or 5 minutes max per side for the game. Tournaments are just a few hours. I immensely love the interaction with my real opponent.

I created a smaller version of chess called Mischia[1], mainly for casual games, but except for the opening phase it tries to play like normal chess. Games usually last 15 to 20 minutes.

I think he's bemoaning cheating, not computers per se. Unfortunately, cheating can work its way into everything: sports, schoolwork, you name it, especially when status and/or big money are involved.

the allegations only survive because tournament security is poor. competitors need to be credibly isolated physically/electromagnetically during the match.
