I liked over the board tournaments but found it difficult to spend a weekend playing four games.
When I play over the board, I prefer rapid or blitz chess, 3 or 5 minutes max per side for the game. Tournaments are just a few hours.
I immensely love the interaction with my real opponent.
replyI created a smaller version of chess called Mischia[1], mainly for casual games, but except for the opening phase it tries to play like normal chess. Games usually last 15 to 20 minutes.
replyI think he's bemoaning cheating, not computers per se. Unfortunately, cheating can work its way into everything: sports, schoolwork, you name it, especially when status and/or big money are involved.
replythe allegations only survive because tournament security is poor. competitors need to be credibly isolated physically/electromagnetically during the match.
