To let the user know that you shouldn't [use it while plugged in]/[bother turning it off]. I don't like the choice, but that's why.
replyThat would still be bad design if it should not be used and charged at the same time. I often charge my Logitec wireless mouse while using it.
replyI know 3rd-parties have created work-arounds to the MacMini's switch, but for mine I just stand on its side (against a shelf's wall).
