Your first example sound very sensible to me?
replyUsing new technology in something small and unimportant like a setup script is a perfect way to experiment and learn. It would be irresponsible to build something important as the first thing you do in a new language.

replyTo be fair though, that's true for every profession or skill.

I've seen something similar where people were surprised that you can use an object storage (so effectively "make HTTP requests") from every server.
