it's sugar. sugar provides energy. used carefully, it can have its place. it's not good for casual/mindless snacking, but i'd eat a candybar when i need some quick energy and can't get something better. i avoid coffee or sugary drinks instead. the sugar content of both is almost the same really, so it actually doesn't make a difference in that regard.

Very well said. A 62.5g Mars bar is a hefty boy and it's only righteous that its size was minused and divided.

I remember many hikes in Snowdonia, the Peak District and a few in the Scottish Highlands in which those 62.5g Mars bars played a significant role in the nutritional planning and overall success.
