People do add fake depth of field to their photos that essentially has the same effect.

replyAn image with the FOV of the wide-angle camera but the quality of the main one in the center? Assuming the border interpolation works well (which tbf is probably hard for close objects), why would anyone not want this?

My eyes are also always focused at the center of what I'm seeing, as opposed to a picture that you can pan.

replyYeah that looks to be the case. Not sure what use case this solves with that 'limitation'. I don't think photographers would particularly like this.
