I became an engineering manager when my daughter was 2. Way back in the old days before LLMs so I had to both code and manage. Completely burnt me out. I never fully got back into traditional tech career after I was laid off in '23.
I did start two businesses: One brick and mortar and one app. The brick and mortar has the biggest drain on family time since with the app I can grind at night and only miss out on sleep.
