Absolutely not what's been happening. At the speed that Canada is signing new trade deals in a decade the entire balance of trade power will look different. And unlike the unreliable US deals, these deals are much more likely to endure and expand. The only reason Carney felt comfortable taking this position on Friday is because he feels confident that in the long run our diversification efforts can solve our issues. I suspect he figures that we can weather the pain until the new trade deals come to bear fruit.
In 2016, an anonymous woman filed a federal lawsuit alleging that he raped her in 1994 when she was 13 years old. The lawsuit was voluntarily withdrawn that same year, before the allegations were adjudicated. No court found that he committed the alleged assault.
