this is when still using FreeBSD/NextBSD kernel, that DE using ObjC and basic framebuffer no x11 / wayland. The current one using Darwin kernel but still CLI only and no graphics subsystem supported yet.

My $0.02: it doesn't actually exist.

GitHub repo indicates they're working on basic, basic, bringup. Like, Objective-C works at all and CLI utilities work.

This is gutting, when combined with a prior post showing this dates back 3 years.

I wager that maybe, probably, possibly, perhaps the GUI of this thing looks like ass and feels even worse. There used to be screenshots, you can google them. But maybe don’t.
reply
And, perhaps (?), that ties in with the GUI being the most proprietary thing here, thus, them building that last/less or wanting to de-emphasize it?

Man I used to develop SAAS software using Cappuccino. Since I knew Objc (and JS/CSS) really well it was such a beautiful system for development. I'm sad it never went anywhere
reply
May I ask what made it special? It does look awful "elegant" and well put together ...

The real link: https://www.cappuccino.dev/aristo/

Looks great, so sad that it's yet another web framework. Kinda smacks of GNOME, though.

Oh wow I remember trying cuppaccino about .... 15 years ago maybe? Fun times, though I never built anything serious.

The project says it’s in pre alpha so that’s to be expected

Literally the first two features listed on the website are "clean design" and "global menus". If they're too early to even have mockups of what that's going to look like, I have to question why they have what clearly seems to be a marketing page up publicly at all then.

Looks like: macOS window chrome with Windows 95 GUI controls.

Because there is nothing to screenshot.

Others have speculated that the UI looks like ass. Some have said "Mac OS window chrome with Win 95 GUI controls.

Yeah, no.

See for yourself. This is the most recent release on their github page. I considered posting it to my Youtube account to gain some of that much-needed eyeballs and attention, but it's 11pm and I'm not doing that shit, I'm not playing that game.

Here is what appears to be the most recent release. I think you'll agree that as a Mac OSX replacement, it's quite jaw-dropping.
