In places like Serangoon North (which is highly residential, I might add), or some atas area like the green bits of River Valley etc, which are genuinely 2+ km from any MRT station, even the buses can take forever as they get stuck in traffic.

So bus, metro, metro, bus, work. Hour, maybe 90 minutes, compared to 20 in a car.
