Pretty sure that electrons are a fundamental particle coming from the electron field. They are pointlike objects with no other components.
replyIf mass is proportionally equivalent to energy, then this can't be true. The photon is the fundamental energy unit. Right?
replyPhotons are the force carrier for the EM field, they are not electrons themselves.
