Raspberry pi never sold them this product. Some random person is the vendor selling some unknown modification and isn’t providing support.
replySure - if that vendor was proposing a solution, a modified EEPROM perhaps, then all is dandy. But they aren’t.

I mean, think about it. what is the whole point of a raspberry pi?
Even if you might not, why would your opinion prevent others from doing what they want with their hardware?
So buy from a vendor that offers the 16GB modification and runs their own hardware support.

Maybe if the Rasp Pi was an unassembled kit "the whole point" would make sense.
