Could be, but your income should be going up in unison. If its not, its time to re-evaluate your career. Cost of living adjustments should be keeping pace with inflation, which is also a check-and-balance for business owners, to realize inflating costs to customers isn't necessarily a good thing.

Correct. Anyone who is not in the ownership class is getting scammed. Minimum wage hasn't went up in forever, union participation down, college graduates are getting stiffed at the finish line, etc. Don't be asinine and act like a systemic issue is someone's personal problem. It's like telling someone in medical debt "well, don't drink and you won't get cancer."
