It has the same sentiment, but is not in the same vain. I use this perspective to see how insignificant we are in this process. That we use arbitrary labels and draw lines in the sand. But they don't always map with reality. The environment is the ultimate "fuck you" to human plans and models. Like when a hurricane model is off and it whips out a coastal town. The environment is, we might not be.

Prefacing this by saying that I am constantly saddened by the scale of human activities and impact. It hard to find places that are untouched by human. But I sometimes ask what conservationism is trying to conserve. The parts that we find pretty and meaningful. It's not saving the planet, it's saving the insta background. That last one felt really cynical to me.

This is exactly the point that the comment you are replying to is making.

Whether "nature recovers" is silly talk that makes you want to capitalize "nature" because you're anthropomorphizing so hard. The question is whether nature will recover for us, or on the other hand whether we will be able to adjust to the permanent changes we have imposed on nature.
