replyNot much - Canada has debit/credit cards that use debit domestically and Visa or Mastercard internationally. They're the default type of debit card that many people get.
The government does that already.

replyEh, there's a lot of regulations and room for whistleblowers in regards to the government's ability to get that in the USA, plus the 4th Amendment providing some pressure from the courts.
