>this device proves they can easily enable user profiles on iPads and iPhones

At the risk of echoing the infamous Dropbox comment...was that ever really considered a technical challenge?

iPadOS specifically supports multiple users, including partitioning the total available disk space and sharing a slice to each of the accounts. Only possible for devices added in Apple Business Manager and managed in a supervised state with an MDM solution under Apple Device Enrollment (ADE) with a 'shared iPad' enrollment profile. You can even integrate Entra ID (Microsoft 365) for handling the login process on shared iPads, or use federated Managed Apple Accounts.

It's not intended for home users of course, because that could jeopardise sales in families.

That is fascinating and funny! There is always a Linux guy ready to explain why UX/UI doesn't matter because they can technically solve the problem in 17 complicated steps.

What a bitter and unhinged post. To characterise Drew's obvious joke as "retribution" is farcical.

Zed Shaw isn’t especially known for even-keeled rhetoric. He got famous from “rails is a ghetto”.

Thank you for asking, and thank you to the two people who responded to you (within a minute of each other!). I was unaware of this "infamous" comment, but it's interesting to see how it's aged over the past 19 years. Times sure have changed.

It's really common to see integrated iPads in all sort of kiosk/control panel applications. Afaik iPad has a dedicated kiosk mode which doesn't allow you to exit the running app. Android tablets too.
