I bought a $5500 Chevy Volt with 105k miles in peak COVID 2020.

It now has 225k miles and I haven't done a single thing to it but change the oil.

It's still on the original factory brake pads and rotors, which look to be about 50% on the pads.

I am going to drive my Chevy Volt into the ground.

Used Chevy Bolt or a used VW ID.4. Both excellent cars that can be found for under $25k; I drive the latter myself.

New, the Chevy Bolt and the Nissan Leaf both start under $30k.

>What if I don't like supporting fascism? >> VW ID.4

Volkswagen was founded by the Nazi party. Literally.

reply
Is VW run by a fascist still to this day? (no)

Tesla? (yes)

reply
This is an obviously disingenuous response unless you think Germans are still Nazis 80 years later?

Try criticizing political figures or having a slight attitude to the police in Germany and tell me that old ghost is gone for good. Or that our new push to label calling out government overreach hate speech (Oh Canada!) Something cut from the same cloth. As for VW the brand that has a long and terrible history when it comes to electrical faults for ICE cars (and diesel gate) I'm not holding my breath until the other shoe drops. I like the look of the newer electric van, maybe they'll have a better reputation by the time I look for a 15 year old one!

Just go hide in your fucking house I guess, if everything to the right of Bernie is fascist

The good news is you can still buy a Model 3, since fascism is a dead ideology that is in no shape to rise again anytime soon. The reason it is still being used is as a prop by deluded boomers to make them feel good about themselves for being groovy anti-authoritarians, and simpletons with no understanding of politics, history or even the last 24 hours.
reply
It's on the rise right now, just under different names. Ironically it's the supposedly freedom loving tech bro libertarians who tend to go down the neoreactionary/fascist pipeline after they "give up" on democracy. They just don't like being labeled as fascists. Since you're on HN and willfully blind to what's going on, I think it's safe to assume that if you voted in 2024, then you voted F. Yes?

Buying a used tesla (from, e.g., a Ford dealer) does not support the fascist part…f

Truly I dislike the guy and everything he did in government but I don’t think that buying a used Tesla is any endorsement or direct benefit to Elon.

Slap an “I bought this used” bumper sticker on it and your fellow anti-fascists should leave you alone.

reply
Buying a used Tesla contributes to increased resale value, which makes new ones a more attractive purchase, driving sales, and supporting the owner.
