Yeah without jury trials Trump would have the ability to BOTH convict people and let them go, since he controls prosecutors, who are the only ones that can bring a case and hiring of judges.

Now he only has the option to let people go for crimes, either by pardoning them or instructing prosecutors to do nothing.

Trump has used both options he has, so the ability to convict people would have been disastrous.
