And the same thing will happen to devs that happened to factory workers. Jobs will get moved offshore, and salaries will drop, mass layoffs. And SWE's don't have unions like factory workers did.

replyIt's long since past, and it's not like unions would've saved the industry from AI, like Europe has unions too (and their software industry is quite poor compared to the US in general, partially due to higher regulation on companies and workers both).
